Meet Your Breeder

My name is Brenda Widmer Wilz, and I am the proud owner of Wolf River Bernedoodles, located in beautiful southeastern Wisconsin. What began as a lifelong love for dogs and animals has grown into a true passion for responsibly breeding healthy, happy Bernedoodles with exceptional temperaments.

I was raised in the small Wisconsin town of Theresa, where I learned the values of hard work, honesty, and integrity from my parents. My father was a cheesemaker and my mother managed the bookkeeping for our family business, Widmer’s Cheese Cellars, which was founded by my Swiss immigrant grandfather more than 100 years ago. The strong work ethic and commitment to quality that shaped our family business continue to guide me today in every aspect of our breeding program.

I graduated from University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and Information Technology, along with a minor in Speech Communication. I spent many years working in both Accounting and Information Technology before transitioning into education. For nearly twenty years, I taught Information Technology courses at a local technical college while also earning a master’s degree in Adult Education.

As a lifelong learner, I have dedicated myself to continually expanding my knowledge of canine health, genetics, nutrition, behavior, and responsible breeding practices. At Wolf River Bernedoodles, we believe breeding is about far more than producing beautiful puppies — it is about raising healthy, well-rounded companions that will positively impact families for years to come.

Every decision we make is centered around the long-term health, temperament, and well-being of our dogs and puppies. Our breeding dogs are carefully selected and extensively health tested to ensure we are producing the highest quality Bernedoodles possible. We place a strong emphasis on temperament, structure, intelligence, and overall health rather than simply focusing on coat color or appearance. Many of our puppies have gone on to become beloved family companions, therapy dogs, emotional support dogs, and service dogs.

Our puppies are raised in a loving home environment where they receive early socialization, individualized attention, quality nutrition, and enriching experiences from the very beginning of life. We believe these early experiences play an important role in shaping confident, well-adjusted puppies that thrive in their forever homes.

One of the greatest blessings of this journey has been building lasting relationships with the families who welcome a Wolf River Bernedoodle into their homes. We are committed to providing lifelong support, guidance, and honest communication to every family who becomes part of the Wolf River Bernedoodles community.

I feel incredibly grateful to do work that I truly love each day, and I sincerely appreciate the trust families place in us when choosing one of our puppies. God has guided me every step of the way, and I am excited for all that the future holds for Wolf River Bernedoodles.
