🐾 What Is a Guardian Home?

In order to give our breeding dogs the very best life possible, we intentionally limit how many dogs we keep in our own home. At the same time, maintaining a high-quality breeding program requires us to continually evaluate and introduce exceptional bloodlines.

So how do we do both?

The answer is our Guardian Home Program.

❤️ A Better Life for Our Dogs

Our Guardian Home Program allows our dogs to live where they belong—in loving homes as cherished family members, not in kennels.

Guardian Families play a vital role in helping us raise and care for our breeding dogs in a home environment filled with love, attention, and everyday life.

📍 Location Requirements

To participate, you must:

  • Live within 45 minutes of our home, or
  • Be willing to transport the dog to our reproductive vet in Lomira, WI for:
    • Health testing
    • Breeding appointments
    • Whelping (delivery of puppies)

🐶 What You Receive

As a Guardian Home, you:

  • Receive a top-quality puppy at no cost
  • Provide a forever home for that dog
  • Raise and love your dog as your own from day one

🧬 How the Program Works

Each Guardian Contract is slightly different, but here’s the general structure:

Females:

  • We retain breeding rights for a set number of litters (typically up to 4)
  • Breeding begins at maturity and ends after agreed litters
  • Pregnancy lasts about 63 days
  • The female returns to us:
    • About 1 week before delivery
    • Stays through whelping and puppy raising (~5 weeks)
  • She then returns home to you

Males:

  • Used for breeding on an as-needed basis
  • Typically retire from breeding before 5 years of age

🩺 Responsibilities

Guardian Family Covers:

  • Routine vet care (annual exams, vaccines)
  • Food and general care
  • Safe management during heat cycles (for females)
  • Preventing unauthorized breeding (for males)

We Cover:

  • Genetic health testing
  • All breeding-related expenses
  • Spay/neuter after breeding career is complete

⚠️ Important Considerations

Being a Guardian Home is a commitment. You should be prepared for:

  • Managing heat cycles (females)
  • Close communication and coordination with us
  • Temporary time apart during breeding and whelping
  • Ensuring your dog is never bred outside the program

🎉 The Big Picture: A True Win x Win

  • You receive a “pick of the litter” quality dog at no cost
  • Your dog lives a full, happy life in a loving home
  • We ensure our breeding dogs are raised the right way—with care, attention, and love
